Lindstrom's Video Archives Salvation Video. Audio Archives Podcast Radio Stations. The Charismatic Movement is willing to accept tongues, interpretation of tongues, visions, dreams, prophecies, etc. This is a very serious danger. Once you accept "extra-Biblical messages" those which are in addition to the Bible, but not necessarily contrary to the Bible it will not be long before you will be accepting "anti-Biblical messages" as being valid those which directly contradict Gods Word.
The Charismatic Movement has done and is doing exactly that! In reality, all "extra-Biblical messages" are "anti-Biblical messages" because God's Word specifically warns against adding to the Scriptures. Revelation " The Charismatic Movement defends these "extra-Biblical, anti-Biblical messages" on the basis that new winds of the Holy Spirit are blowing John They say, "Who can tell what the Holy Spirit may do?
It was the Holy Spirit who warned about adding to the word of God. Therefore, as Jesus said, if someone tells you something contrary to the Word of God, "believe it not Matthew The Mormons speak in tongues and have, obviously, accepted extra-Biblical revelations.
The Charismatic Movement encourages its followers to stay in churches and denominations of different beliefs in order "to win them over.
Also God's Word plainly teaches believers that those who preach another gospel are "accursed"- Galatians , and those who fellowship with false teachers are partakers of their evil deeds II John The Charismatic Movement is promoting the Ecumenical Movement and may possibly be the "glue" that joins all the churches together for the Antichrist Matthew 3. In fact, one might argue that a movement will rise or fall largely on its leadership.
To understand the effective movement leadership that we see in the New Testament is to understand the theocentric focus of the leaders. This leadership imbues a profound sense of humility, as it looks at Jesus as the chief cornerstone upon which the entire foundation of the household of God is built Eph — Without Him, everything crumbles under the weight of our inadequacies.
It seems like we see contemporary movements regularly crumble, as leaders become enthralled with their own abilities and personalities. We see this most clearly in new religious movements NRMs , but increasingly in the American evangelicalism. In the study of new religious movements, which are often pejoratively referred to as cults, leaders clearly take on a savior role, as followers are attracted to their charismatic personalities that often communicate their connection to God, or some supernatural force, which gave them special abilities or a position as a divine authority Wessinger ; Dawson Like John Wesley, who organized the Methodist Societies round the weekly class meeting of twelve members under their class leader, charismatics know the potential of group.
Real Belief in Satan and the Demonic. Many Christians say they believe in Satan, but charismatics take the demonic seriously. Real Belief in the Miraculous. The absorbing intensity of charismatic fellowship, countrywide and worldwide, can produce a damaging insularity whereby charismatics limit themselves to reading charismatic books, hearing charismatic speakers, fellowshipping with other charismatics and backing charismatic causes.
Charismatic preoccupation with experience observably inhibits the long, hard theological and ethical reflection for which the New Testament letters so plainly calls. Careful interpretation of Scripture and orthodox theology are too often ignored.
In scholarly charismatic circles the inerrancy of Scripture is denied quite often, and in popular circles people may rely on revelations from God for their daily life, in effect denying the sufficiency of Scripture. Sincere but deluded claims to direct divine revelation have been made in the church since the days of the Colossians heretic s and the Gnosticizers whose defection called forth 1 John, and since Satan keeps pace with God, they will no doubt recur till the Lord returns.
The focus on contemporary revelation may compromise or even contradict the teaching of Scripture. This is Edward D. The most important moments in our lives are often invisible to others and even to us.
