What is the difference between e36 and e46

Nice write up. It is all a personal thing and personal preference , but I love the E36 looks over the E46, the E46 still looks good but there is just something about the E36 for me.

IMHO anything after the E46 is a throw away, my dad has the E90 and it is the an expensive, unreliable piece of junk. Great article… helps me a lot in deciding. However, I am hating the driving experience almost every day and considering to get a M3 myself. The only concern is the price. All of them are over 10k. Is that a recent surge in price for the M3s, should I wait?

E36 vs E Luxury. E36 vs E M3. Summary So, not only is the E46 more luxurious, but its also faster. Be sure to share with your friends!

What are you smoking? A pristine e46 M3 for 10k? Try 20k easily. I want to know the colour code and paint brand of e36 dark blue with carrier at 1st google image…thanks Reply. The E36 and E46 were available in coupe, convertible, sedan, hatchback and station wagon body styles. Automatic and manual transmissions were available for the E36 and E46; however, BMW instituted a few changes when it launched the E The E46 was longer and wider than its predecessor, gaining as much as 3 inches in some instances.

BMW lowered the height of the E46 coupe, sedan, hatchback and station wagon by roughly 2 inches; the convertible was lowered by an inch. I'm assuming for the cash 1. Is the E46 worthwhile?

Carpal 3, posts months. Think the E36 is more of a drivers car, the E46 more refined. The E46 is a great car; the inside of mine is a much nicer place to be than a friends albeit lower spec E There is a reasonable opportunity for both cars to throw up bills, I would keep your options open and when you find a decent car of either version that you like buy it The e46 is a nice car but I don't think it's bmw's finest, they seem to rust all over and have a fair share of issues that shouldn't happen like tears in the boot floor.

If I had to get one I would look for a very late one, for less than 3 grand it will be a bit of a dog. I would choose an e39 over e46 any day.

Thread: Difference between E36 and E Thread Tools Show Printable Version. Wondering what the difference is like between an average to good k mile e46 and a pristine garage queen, all maintenance, perfect e36 would be like?

If I pick up a used e46 and drive it somewhat "as-is" for the time being how would that compare to an e36 that needs nothing and has been maintained to stock or better than stock in every aspect? I have never driven or even been in an e The only baseline I have to compare my e36 to is other e36'es and an e30 I used to have that was a similar situation to this. The e30 was not a nut-and-bolt restoration but a show quality perfect is with a few bolt-on mods.

The e46 is worlds newer than the e The e36 was based of a '92 model and nothing really changed past the introduction of the digital climate controls. The e46 was considerably newer technology, as that was around the time in the late 90s when computers were really starting to play a big part in development of cars.

I had both an e36 and e46 and the e46 felt more isolated compared to the e36, but it was better in every way but better because technology was there.

Better engine, better suspension, safer. The e36 had you more connected to the road because well The e46's introduction of big technology helped to make the car more of a quality car in my opinion and in reality was one of the last cars that BMW made that was cheap to own past the warranty period. Once the e90 came around, things started getting expensive. Let me get this straight You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?

In my experience, the e36 has that "raw" racecar like feel that the e46 didn't seem to have. Comparing e36m to e46m. The e36 had more of a cockpit like atmosphere with simple controls whereas the e46 was a Monster of a machine but a bit more complicated as far as controls go. But I course that is the difference between the 90's and 00's in terms of technology and computers as stated above. I am all for simple, mindless operation of heat, ac and radio. AFE 3.

Daily driver, I'd go with an e Weekend car that you might put some "work" into, maybe consider an e An e36 has hp. An e46 has hp. I had a and felt it was under powered. I'd probably feel the same about an e36 I'm ignoring weight differences for simplicity.

A has hp or in the zhp Which is the e46 version of your is e I'd look up the zhp if I were you I think it's a general consensus that the e46 is better overall than the e36 and many even argue better than an e
